Making and trialling parachutes

After reading one of our reading group's texts 'How to make a parachute' some children have made their own and tried it out today.

Reading non fiction books gives us all new learning experiences and teaches us about topics we would like to explore. This book helped us to find something to do with the pile of soft plastic bags, and unwanted little toys that others have outgrown.

Day 2 of Pac Man

This group are reading their challenge before deciding if they need to go out into the school to explore or ask another teacher for clues, or work out the problem themselves.

Measuring time, length, and using clocks and themselves!!

Ali wants to count how many stick it notes it has taken to make Pac Man! Will he count in arrays, groups of 2 or 5 or 1-1?

Tim has a try too, he estimated first and them started to count. How would you count them up?

Drum Roll Please! Our Stadium is complete! Now to use it!

The secret material has been revealed - Bubble Wrap! To create the Water effect we saw in our study of the Water Cube and to let light into our space, bubble wrap seemed to be the best material - all 30 metres of it! So the maths, technology and group problem solving skills have now been extended this week and we have a new and interesting space to work in.

Next we made delicious versions of Marvellous Medicine with Soda, Vanilla Ice Cream and a sprinkling of marshmallows!

A drop of yellow or green food colouring for that extra sparkle!

Delicious!!

Literacy Week Begins!

Roald Dahl wrote many children's story books which have been read all over the world. We have been reading George's Marvellous Medicine. Today we made our own "medicine" with the help of Brodie's Mum, Ms Medland and Jessica's Dad, Mr Armstrong. Thank you both for giving Mrs Trembath a hand!

What do you see we have used to make George's Medicine for his Grandma?
