Photo Prompts: Using photographs of animals caught on camera with unusual or amusing expressions or poses. 

What is the cheetah doing on the side of the road? Nearby just happens to be a road sign with 40 on it - could this be what the cheetah is looking at?

Is this Zebra calling out to their herd? Has another Zebra done something to make the Zebra call out, does it have toothache or is it yawning?

This Toad certainly looks friendly, what's the joke? Use your imagination and tell us a short story.

Hockey Small Sticks Wednesday

Cam from Auckland Hockey has been teaching and coaching us through hockey this term and we love it! It's a great team sport for girls and boys to play. Cam has supplied all our specially sized hockey sticks and balls so we can learn at our own level. 

As you can see we are enjoying the game so much it's hard for Mrs Trembath to take a still photo!

Day 2 of Pac Man

This group are reading their challenge before deciding if they need to go out into the school to explore or ask another teacher for clues, or work out the problem themselves.

Measuring time, length, and using clocks and themselves!!

Ali wants to count how many stick it notes it has taken to make Pac Man! Will he count in arrays, groups of 2 or 5 or 1-1? 

Tim has a try too, he estimated first and them started to count. How would you count them up? 

Pac Man Challenge

Focus: to revise Maths Knowledge and Skills from during the year in the context of our School Conmunity! 

Room 20 invited R21 and R16 to participate in our challenge too - check out their windows this week as well!

Children were put into groups of 3 and given a bag of 10 challenges to complete in any order. 

Each challenge was awarded 2 stick it notes when Mrs Trembath had listened to  how the group had solved each challenge, before they were given the go ahead to choose another challenge from their bag.

The Olympics starts in Room 20 with a popular Chinese sport - table tennis!

The Chinese team won all of the Gold Medals at the London 2012 Olympics. You can play this game too - there are tables to play on at school.

Tangrams Numbers and Words! What will we discover this week?

Children were able to independently choose a picture which inspired them to write about any topic they chose.

Sometimes we have an Author's Block! This app enables us to use our imagination and the world around us to dream up a story - whether is fiction or non-fiction!

Next we made delicious versions of Marvellous Medicine with Soda, Vanilla Ice Cream and a sprinkling of marshmallows!

A drop of yellow or green food colouring for that extra sparkle!

Delicious!!

Voting Day in Room 20!

Everyone has a voting paper and will write their tick independently. 

We converted our Puppet Theatre into a Voting Booth to make votes private.

We wonder if other liquids can float on water? Can air float on water?

We made a wonderful concoction of water, dye, washing up liquid and cooking oil! We mixed it up and made it bubble as we swished it around with a paint brush! Some brave people blew bubbles with straws. 

We watched to see what would happen. We made our own observations about what floated on the top, what sunk and what mixed and dissolved in the water. Then we carefully lay paper across the top to make a print of the floating ingredients! What do you think was floating on the top? Why? We are going to explore these questions in class.
