Hockey Small Sticks Wednesday

Cam from Auckland Hockey has been teaching and coaching us through hockey this term and we love it! It's a great team sport for girls and boys to play. Cam has supplied all our specially sized hockey sticks and balls so we can learn at our own level.

As you can see we are enjoying the game so much it's hard for Mrs Trembath to take a still photo!

Wonderful Wriggly Worms

Today Room 20 had an Enviro Day with Mrs Daniel. We learnt all about worms, in a very hands on way. We set up a new Middle School worm bin; complete with 2 000 wiggly, squiggly worms to munch our lunch scraps and make worm tea food for our edible gardens. We can't wait to feed, water and care for our wonderful worms.

The Olympic Torch arrives at Sunnyhills School

Today R16, R21 and R20 enacted the torch relay.
'Athletes' were represented by Andreas, Olivia and Andrew who brought the torches into the playground. They passed it on to each athlete in Team 16, 21 and 20 to the cheers from other class teams who braved the elements to watch the occasion.
Now there is a torch in our room for the duration of the Rio Olympics until it is passed on to a representative from Japan for the 2020 Games.

Literacy Week Begins!

Roald Dahl wrote many children's story books which have been read all over the world. We have been reading George's Marvellous Medicine. Today we made our own "medicine" with the help of Brodie's Mum, Ms Medland and Jessica's Dad, Mr Armstrong. Thank you both for giving Mrs Trembath a hand!

What do you see we have used to make George's Medicine for his Grandma?

The Korowai completed

We have begun to talk about our class treaty!

Putting feathers into our Korowai Cloak - our Maori cloak that symbolises each person being part of our whanau in Room 20. Everyone Belongs.

Thinking about what kinds of people we would like to have in our class and how to treat others!
