Looking Great Fabulous Amazing Fantastic Everyone!

Dear Families for those of you who are busy and find it tricky to visit our room in person, this is what Room 20 is looking like right now!
Soon we have to take everything down for the end of the year so we thought we would show you all now!

Our Class Dojos. We are all different and we appreciate that fact when we are learning and working together. We each designed our own character and wrote the speech bubble to describe what our character is like.

These are our camouflaged Skinks and Stick Insects - can you find them? What are their Adaptations to their Environment or Habitat?

Look at this herd of Zebras! The idea was to learn how to paint a sunset background and show silhouettes with the trees. And then the Zebra is in the front or the foreground. The black and white patterning links well into maths and was a challenge to those that are used to patterning only from left to right! Black tissue paper was added to enhance the 3-D illusion.

Look at these glorious giraffes! Hands on construction is always fun and it's a great way to recycle found objects. We have used giraffes as a subject for Maths Inquiry learning  about estimation and measuring height.

2016 Sports Day at Sunnyhills! The weather behaved and we all had a super day!

8 year olds lining up!

7 year olds lining up!

So glad you have remembered your hats!

Ready to jump, run and try our best!

Such energy girls!

At the end of the day there were finals for all of the sprint races and there were lots of Room 20 children in those races! Fantastic fitness and such a great mindset for competitive racing today!

Hoiho is Mrs Trembath's House and we all cheered our loudest! The Senior relays were so exciting to watch. I know there were nervous runners out there.

Hoiho Senior Girls came 1st and we were so proud!

The boys' relay was very competitive and Hoiho came 3rd - well done boys for stepping up to represent us, I know you practiced a lot during the days leading up to the Sports Day.

Room 20 really enjoyed their day - they were excited and energised. Congratulations to you all for being great sports people and encouraging each other at all times!

Day 2 of Pac Man

This group are reading their challenge before deciding if they need to go out into the school to explore or ask another teacher for clues, or work out the problem themselves.

Measuring time, length, and using clocks and themselves!!

Ali wants to count how many stick it notes it has taken to make Pac Man! Will he count in arrays, groups of 2 or 5 or 1-1?

Tim has a try too, he estimated first and them started to count. How would you count them up?

ASB Get Wise Programme Visits Room 20 today!

Serena from GetWise came to school to teach us about how to save our money and keep our money safe. Where does money sit? What is an eftpos card? Whose money is it? What is a credit card and where does the money come from? What is 'borrowing' ?
Each team earned $100 for doing jobs. They put the money in the Bank. Haden, Nathan and Ali went shopping with $100. How will they spend their money? How to look for a best price?

The Olympics starts in Room 20 with a popular Chinese sport - table tennis!

The Chinese team won all of the Gold Medals at the London 2012 Olympics. You can play this game too - there are tables to play on at school.

Shop Open! Using our place value skills to use money.

This term R20 has opened a shop. Some children are the shop keepers and some are the customers. They have decided how much our items are and labelled them with the price in dollars and cents. When you pay you must work out the money by yourself and if there will be change.

Here Ali is the shopkeeper and Hamish is buying some toy cars! Ali is working the cash register and giving Hamish some change.

This is Jacob stocking up on his groceries. I wonder how much he is going to spend!?

We get excited about the photo prompt!

Next Term please bring along INTERESTING AND THOUGHT PROVOKING photos or newspaper articles to WRITE ABOUT in our own Class Newspaper to share in Literacy time.

The AUTHORS were able to choose if they wanted to write using the PROMPT (which you can read at the bottom of the iPad screen) or use the image alone. The children then recorded themselves if they wanted to, reading aloud their writing. Other children can now use the iPad as a reading device as well as a writing device. We like to hear each other read. Reading and Writing has become interactive.

Our Concoction of weird and wonderful ingredients was supposed to make George's Grandma more agreeable and kind...

Toothpaste from Ali and Joshua!

Sonia squirts hairspray and Evie stirs the mixture.

YUMMY!

Literacy Week Begins!

Roald Dahl wrote many children's story books which have been read all over the world. We have been reading George's Marvellous Medicine. Today we made our own "medicine" with the help of Brodie's Mum, Ms Medland and Jessica's Dad, Mr Armstrong. Thank you both for giving Mrs Trembath a hand!

What do you see we have used to make George's Medicine for his Grandma?
